Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 April 2026
ChargeCalcs respects your privacy. This page explains what data is collected, why, and how you can control it. The policy is written in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
Analytics — geo-gated consent
ChargeCalcs uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which calculators are popular, where visitors come from, and how long they spend on each page. Whether GA4 fires depends on the country and region you are visiting from:
- EU 27, EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), United Kingdom, and Switzerland: a consent banner appears on first visit. GA4 does not fire until you explicitly accept. If you reject, no analytics data is collected.
- California, Brazil, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah:GA4 fires by default, but you can opt out at any time using the “Privacy Choices” link in the footer. Your opt-out is honoured immediately.
- Everywhere else: GA4 fires by default. You can clear our cookies via your browser settings at any time.
GA4 collects pages visited, approximate geographic location (country and region, not precise address), device type, browser, screen size, and referral source. GA4 does not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage.
Vercel Analytics — cookieless
Aggregate visit counts are recorded by Vercel Analytics. Vercel Analytics is cookieless, does not track individual visitors, does not require consent, and provides only aggregate page-view counts. It applies to all visits, including those that reject the GA4 consent banner.
Consent storage
Your consent decision is stored in your browser's localStorage (not in a tracking cookie):
- consent-status (localStorage): records your
grantedordenieddecision. Persists until you clear browser data or change your preference via Cookie Settings. - _ga, _ga_* (cookies, set by Google): analytics cookies set only when GA4 is allowed to fire. Expire after 2 years. Used to distinguish unique visitors.
Closing the banner with the X button does not count as consent — analytics remain disabled until you explicitly accept. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, and no data is sold to anyone.
Cloudflare Turnstile
The feedback form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated spam submissions. Turnstile is a privacy-focused alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs. It analyses browser signals (such as mouse movement patterns and page interaction timing) to determine whether a submission is from a human or a bot. Turnstile does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal information. More details are available in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Feedback form (Resend)
When you submit the feedback form, your name, email (if provided), message, and the page URL are sent to ChargeCalcs via Resend, an email delivery service. This data is used solely to respond to your feedback. Resend processes the data as described in their privacy policy. Submitted feedback is not stored in a database — it is delivered as an email and retained only in the email inbox.
Calculator data
All calculator inputs and results are processed entirely in your browser. No calculation data is sent to ChargeCalcs servers or any third party. Your vehicle selection, charging inputs, and results remain on your device.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access personal data held about you, request deletion, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (the ICO in the UK, your data protection authority in the EU, the California Privacy Protection Agency in California, and equivalents elsewhere).
Since ChargeCalcs collects minimal data (anonymous analytics only, and only where allowed by your region's consent posture), there is very little personal data to access or delete. If you have submitted feedback with an email address, you can request its deletion.
